PHOENIX (July 23, 2020) – Pima Medical Institute was founded in Tucson in 1972 and is one of the leading medical career colleges in the Western United States. Throughout the Phoenix metro area, Pima Medical has three campuses, its PhoenixMesa and the East Valley locations.
Throughout the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pima Medical has successfully pivoted to provide students with remote learning options. As states begin to re-open, students who need lab-skill competencies, as well as essential faculty and staff have slowly started to begin on-campus learning again.
While students, faculty and staff remain Pima Medical’s primary focus, the college knew its experts could also supply needed information to those across the Valley during this unprecedented time. Being community stewards has always been a big part of Pima Medical’s history.
Through a partnership with AZTV Cable Channel 7 and the AZ Daily Mix morning show, Pima Medical experts have been sharing their knowledge in weekly segments. Features have included helpful information on everything from proper hand washing techniques with Surgical Technology Program Director, Rhiannon Winsor, to at-home study tips from Pima Medical’s Director of Online Education, Deborah Riemer. Dr. Rebecca Carpenter, PT, NMD, Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director at the Mesa campus shared breathing techniques for reducing stress and showcased stretches and tips for setting up an office area to make work-from-home (or study-from-home) more comfortable.
