The Obama Administration was fixated on financially destroying career colleges and killing college choice. Unfortunately, history appears to be repeating itself in the new Biden Administration.
In recent years, the plan behind crushing these schools is led by four small organizations that are well-organized, and well financed. They have received more than $12 million over the past four years from crusading billionaires.
Since 2017, a handful of donors have provided at least $12 million to the four key activist organizations. That money has in turn funded academic reports, website articles, journalist outreach, and significant lobbying efforts attacking education companies.
Key to this cabal is the relationship between Veteran’s Education Success (VES) and Arnold Ventures, LLC. Of the $12 million contributed, 41% went to VES and 49% came from John and Laura Arnold, the billionaires who run Arnold Ventures, LLC.
Closely behind VES stands the Institute for College Access & Success (TICAS) – the original career college bully – with sizable contributions from the Lumina and Kresge Foundations.
