Rule Summary:

The Board adopted amendments to the rules impacting barbers and cosmetologists.  The amendments update the examination requirements for military personnel.  Specifically the amendments allow veterans to use barbering and cosmetology training obtained in the military to qualify for the examination.

Notice of the final rule was published in the California Register. The rule is effective 7/1/2016.

Notice of the proposed rule was released for public review. Comments were due 6/17/2015. A public hearing was held 6/17/2015. Staff internally reviewed any comments received.  Staff released notice of a modified rule for a 15-day comment period. Comments were due 11/18/2015 on the modifications only. The modifications were necessary to clarify rule language.  Staff submitted the rule to the Office of Administrative (OAL) for review.
