Unitek receives nursing-board approval to offer their BSN program in Concord, California

In November, Unitek received nursing-board approval to expand their BSN program to the Concord community. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) pre-licensure program will provide students with a coveted degree in the healthcare industry.
Nurses equipped with a BSN degree often receive more opportunities in the field. High school graduates and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) may pursue this degree to further their education and take the next step in their careers. While a bachelor’s degree isn’t a requirement for RNs, BSN-trained nurses generally receive higher salaries, management positions, and leadership roles. A BSN degree can make a significant difference in the life and career of a healthcare professional.
“Unitek chose Concord because studies have shown that the San Francisco Bay Area is one of the fastest growing regions in California. They have seen a 9.3% increase from 2010-2018 alone,” said Dr. Abdel Yosef, Chief Academic Officer at Unitek College. “Furthermore, in Contra Costa County, 29% of the population is over the age of 55. In addition, 23.4% of RNs are above the age of 60. These are both contributing factors to workforce shortage projections published by the Healthforce Center at UC San Francisco.”
