APSCU. Noah Black, Vice President of Communications for APSCU, released the following statement on the U.S. Department of Education’s draft gainful employment regulation:
“Our initial review of the draft regulation released by the Department, indicates substantive differences between gainful employment 1.0 and gainful employment 2.0 that go beyond simple compliance with the recent court rulings. This draft raises doubts about the Department’s commitment to work with all of postsecondary education to create meaningful change that puts the interests and outcomes of students first.
“Rather it appears the Department is prepared to advance policies that limit access to those that stand to benefit the most from postsecondary education.
“We maintain our firm belief that the Department should suspend the negotiated rulemaking, and appropriately focus on reauthorization of the Higher Education Act.”
